Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 10:57 AM CDT Apr. 27, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT /7 PM
CDT/ this evening...

Hazardous weather...

* freezing rain is expected over much of western Upper Michigan
with additional ice accumulations of one-tenth to one-quarter
of an inch. Higher terrain locations will see the greater ice
amounts. In Iron County, there is now a greater chance of
seeing freezing rain over all the County, including at Iron
   River and Crystal Falls.

* Sleet and snow will continue to mix with the rain and
freezing rain this morning and eventually change to snow this
afternoon. Total snow accumulations by this evening will
range from 1 to 2 inches across Iron County to 2 to 4 inches
across the Keweenaw peninsula, including at Kenton, Houghton
   and Calumet.

Impacts...

* most of the ice accumulation through this morning will occur
on elevated surfaces such as trees and power lines.

* Due to the freezing rain, sleet and snow, untreated roads
will become very slippery. Use caution if traveling.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet,
or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.

* Prepare, plan, and stay informed. Visit www.Weather.Gov/MQT
