... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 4 am EST Monday...

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a
Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow, which is in effect until 4
am EST Monday. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.


Hazardous weather...

* a long duration snow will affect the area... resulting in storm
   total snowfall of 6 to 10 inches by late Sunday night.

* Light snow will persist through the morning. The intensity of
   the snow will increase during the afternoon. The period of
   heaviest snow, possibly around an inch per hour at times, will
   occur between 3 PM and 11 PM.

* Snow will end after midnight. Temperatures will remain in the
   lower 30s overnight through Monday morning.

Impacts...

* roads will become snow covered and very hazardous... impacting
   travel across the area this afternoon and tonight..


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in

* light snow will impact southeastern Michigan during the entire
   morning.

* Snow accumulations of up to 1 inch are expected between 630 am
   and 11 am.

* Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

* Air temperatures will range between 22 and 25 degrees.

Impacts...

* accumulating snow may lead to slippery roads particularly on
   bridges... exit ramps... and overpasses.

* Moderate snow will cause reductions of visibility to less
   than one mile. There may be rapid fluctuations of visibility.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* the combination of light snow and cold temperatures will result
   in slippery conditions and variable traffic rates throughout
   the area. Motorists are urged to use caution and account for
   the variable driving conditions by allowing extra time.
