Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 4:25 PM EST Feb. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 am Friday to 7 PM EST
Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow and freezing drizzle, which is in
effect from 7 am Friday to 7 PM EST Saturday.

Hazardous weather...

* expect snow to develop around 7 am Friday and linger through
the morning hours. The snow will then mix in with freezing
drizzle during the afternoon and evening hours on Friday.
Additional snow is expected on Saturday, along with blowing
   snow.

* The heaviest snowfall rates will occur between 7 am and 1 PM
Friday, and minor ice accumulation will occur after 1pm
   Friday.

* Wind gusts will increase on Saturday to around 30 mph causing
blowing and drifting snow, especially near Lake Superior.

* Total snow accumulations of 4 to 9 inches and ice accumulations
of two tenths of an inch are expected Friday through the day
   on Saturday.

Impacts...

* the wet and heavy snow will make roads slick and snow covered
   on Friday.

* The combination of snow and ice will result in difficult travel
   Friday afternoon through Saturday.

* Blowing and drifting snow will cause reduced visibilities and
make for difficult travel on Saturday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or
freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared
for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution
   while driving.
