The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
eastern Lewis County in northeastern Kentucky...
southern Scioto County in southwestern Ohio...

* until 1115 PM EDT.

* At 748 PM EDT, radar indicated that one to two inches of rain have
fallen across the warned area, with another one to two inches
possible through the next few hours. Runoff from this excessive
rainfall will cause flash flooding to occur.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portsmouth, Wheelersburg, New Boston, South Webster, head of
grassy, Camp Dix, Sciotodale, Franklin Furnace, Rosemount, Buena
Vista in Scioto County, Saint Paul, Firebrick, Harris, West
Portsmouth, Tannery, Emerson, Turkey Creek Lake, Friendship,
Powellsville and Garrison.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has extended the

* flood advisory for...
northwestern Mason County in northern Kentucky...
Bracken County in northern Kentucky...
southeastern Clermont County in southwestern Ohio...
southern Brown County in southwestern Ohio...
Adams County in southwestern Ohio...
Pike County in southwestern Ohio...
northern Scioto County in southwestern Ohio...

* until 115 am EDT.

* At 952 PM EDT, flooding continued through the advisory area, as a
result of heavy rainfall from earlier in the day. Local law
enforcement officials in several counties continue to report Road
closures and high water.

* Minor flooding of low-lying and poorly drained streets, highways
and underpasses will occur. In addition, farmland near creeks,
streams and drainage ditches will experience minor flooding.

Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...
Maysville, Georgetown, Waverly, West Union, Piketon, Manchester,
Peebles, Ripley, Aberdeen, Augusta, Winchester, Seaman, Felicity,
Brooksville, Clarktown, Lucasville, Blue Creek, Decatur, Russellville
and Hamersville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 2 am EDT Saturday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, including
the following areas, in southeast Indiana, Dearborn, Ohio,
Ripley, and Switzerland. In Kentucky, Boone, Bracken,
Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Lewis, Mason,
Owen, Pendleton, and Robertson. In Ohio, Adams, Brown,
Clermont, Hamilton, Highland, Hocking, Pike, Ross, and Scioto.

* Until 2 am EDT Saturday

* a band of showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain will
continue to sag southeast this evening. A widespread one to
three inches of rain is occurring today. Isolated totals of
three to five inches will be possible. Some local weather
station reports already show totals above four inches. Showers
and thunderstorms will come to an end late tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People in the watch area should keep an eye on the weather and be
prepared for immediate action should heavy rains and flooding
occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued. Avoid low-lying areas,
and be careful when approaching Highway dips and underpasses.
