The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* flood advisory for...
Champaign County in west central Ohio...
southeastern Darke County in west central Ohio...
Clark County in west central Ohio...
northern Montgomery County in west central Ohio...
southern Miami County in west central Ohio...

* until 415 PM EDT.

* At 1224 PM EDT, radar indicated an area of heavy rain moving
slowly southeast across the advisory area. Torrential rainfall
rates from 1 to 2 inches per hour are likely as this band of rain
moves through the area this afternoon.

* Minor flooding of low-lying and poorly drained streets, highways
and underpasses will occur. In addition, farmland near creeks,
streams and drainage ditches will experience minor flooding.

Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...
Dayton, Springfield, Huber Heights, Troy, Trotwood, Vandalia,
Englewood, Urbana, Tipp City, New Carlisle, West Milton, Northridge,
Enon, St. Paris, Mechanicsburg, North Lewisburg, Brown, Riverside,
Clayton and Union.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, including the
following areas, in Indiana, Dearborn, Fayette in, Franklin
in, Ohio, Ripley, Switzerland, Union in, and Wayne. In
Kentucky, Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant,
Kenton, Lewis, Mason, Owen, Pendleton, and Robertson. In Ohio,
Adams, Brown, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clermont, Clinton,
Darke, Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette OH, Franklin OH, Greene,
Hamilton, Highland, Hocking, Licking, Logan, Madison, Miami,
Montgomery, Pickaway, Pike, Preble, Ross, Scioto, Shelby,
Union OH, and Warren.

* Through late tonight.

* A band of showers and thunderstorms has developed this morning,
and is forecasted to to slowly sag southeast this afternoon. A
widespread one to three inches of rain is expected today.
Isolated totals of three to four inches will be possible.
Showers and thunderstorms will come to an end late Friday night.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People in the watch area should keep an eye on the weather and be
prepared for immediate action should heavy rains and flooding
occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued. Avoid low-lying areas,
and be careful when approaching Highway dips and underpasses.
