Issued: 9:49 PM CDT Jul. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Baraboo river near Baraboo.
* At 8:00 PM Thursday the stage was 15.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
rise to near 21.2 feet by Monday early afternoon.The river will
fall below flood stage by Wednesday before midnight.
* Impact... at 20.8 feet... floodwaters affect a trailer rental
business and a Road Wayside Park about 5 miles downstream near the
Highway 33 bridge. Floodwaters also affect an auto auction business
near Highway I-94. This level is the 20 percent chance flood
meaning that there is a 20 percent chance in any given year of the
river reaching this level.

the Baraboo river at West Baraboo.
* At 9:00 PM Thursday the stage was 5.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday morning and continue to
rise to near 9.2 feet by Sunday early afternoon.The river will fall
below flood stage by early Monday morning.
* Impact... at 9.0 feet... which is flood stage, there is widespread
lowland flooding in the Baraboo area.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Baraboo river at Rock Springs.
* At 9:15 PM Thursday the stage was 19.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 22.7 feet by
Saturday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
Tuesday evening.
* Impact... at 23.0 feet... floodwaters touch the base of the river
gauge house in Rock Springs. Floodwaters cover much of highways dd,
154 and 136 in Rock Springs. Busser park along Highway 136 and the
baseball Diamond in fireman's park along Highway dd are covered
with water up to 4 feet deep. Floodwaters affect some businesses,
including the Post office, along Highway 154 in Rock Springs.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from late Friday afternoon
through Saturday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of south central Wisconsin and southeast Wisconsin,
including the following areas, in south central Wisconsin,
Columbia, Dane, green, Iowa, Lafayette, rock, and Sauk. In
southeast Wisconsin, Jefferson, Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth.

* From late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning

* heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts
possible.

* Impacts could include flooded roads and intersections, river
flooding, and possible rock and mud slides in hilly terrain.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Those outside, including campers and hikers, should avoid low
ground and areas along rivers and streams, where rapid water
rises could occur. Be especially cautious at night, when flash
flooding is difficult to see.
