Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 2:10 AM MST Feb. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 am MST
Friday...

* timing... light to moderate snow, with areas of gusty northeast
wind over South Pass, will continue overnight before gradually
tapering off this morning.

* Snowfall... 20 to 30 inches have fallen so far along the east
slopes. An additional 2 to 4 inches is expected through midday
today, with the heavier amounts across the southern portion of
the range.

* Wind and visibility... northeast 15 to 25 mph with visibility
limited to one-half mile or less at times in blowing snow.

* Main impact... many roads will remain impassable due to the heavy
snowfall and significant drifting on Thursday. South Pass is
expected to remain closed this morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, and or
blowing snow are expected or occurring. This could make travel
very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel keep some food,
water, and an extra flashlight in your vehicle in case of an
