... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 am PST early
this morning...
... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 10 PM this evening to 4 PM
PST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Medford has upgraded the Winter
Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow... which is
in effect from 10 PM this evening to 4 PM PST Friday.

* Snow accumulations... 4 to 8 inches near Weed, highest south part
of the city. 10 to 15 inches are expected in the mountains west
and southwest of Weed.

* Winds... south 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts causing some
blowing and drifting snow. Winds could gust to 50 mph tonight
into Friday.

* Elevation... above 3000 feet.

* Timing... occasional snow this morning... then another period of
heavy... wet snow is expected tonight into Friday.

* Locations include... Weed and the mountains west of Weed...
including Forest Mountain Summit between Yreka and Etna.

* Impacts... intermittent snow will make travel difficult on area
roadways this morning... then heavy wet snow will bring extremely
hazardous travel conditions with low visibility tonight into
Friday. Some roads could become impassable. The heavy... wet
snow could also snap tree limbs and down power lines.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* if you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets,
food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you.

* The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.

* See weather.Gov/Medford/cams for latest Road conditions.

* A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause travel difficulties.

* A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means that severe winter
weather is imminent and poses a threat to life and property.
