Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 1:43 PM CDT Aug. 30, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until midnight CDT tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of north central Kansas and south central Nebraska...
including the following areas... in north central Kansas...
Jewell... Mitchell... Osborne... Phillips... Rooks and Smith. In
south central Nebraska... Adams... Clay... Fillmore... Franklin...
Harlan... Kearney... Nuckolls... Thayer and Webster.

* Until midnight CDT tonight

* slow-moving thunderstorms will be possible and this could lead
to excessive rainfall amounts and flash flooding. Thunderstorms
will be rather scattered in nature... but due to the slow
motion... those that find themselves under one of these
thunderstorms will quickly see rainfall amounts add up.

* Very heavy rainfall rates of 2 inches per hour will be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
