Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 1:47 PM CDT Jun. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 7 PM CDT this evening through
Friday evening...

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east Arkansas, north
Mississippi, and west Tennessee, including the following
areas, in east Arkansas, Crittenden, cross, Lee, Phillips, and
St. Francis. In north Mississippi, Benton, Coahoma, DeSoto,
Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate,
Tunica, and Yalobusha. In west Tennessee, Fayette, Hardeman,
and Shelby.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Friday evening

* excessive rainfall from Tropical Depression Cindy.

* High rainfall rates could lead to rapid inundation of flood-
prone roadways. Sharp rises in creeks and small streams may
occur. Low-lying areas may quickly become flooded.Low lying
areas both urban and rural will be most prone to flooding.
Travelers should be aware of these threat areas and avoid them
if at all possible. In addition persons should avoid outside
activity near culverts... ditches and ravines as these have
proven deadly during flash flood events.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
