Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 1:57 PM PST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 4 am PST Monday...
... Winter Storm Warning is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for snow, which is in effect until 4 am PST Monday. The
Winter Storm Warning has been cancelled.

* Timing: bands of moderate rain or a mix of rain and snow will
develop after 4 PM and transition to all snow this evening
behind a cold front.

* Additional snow accumulations: 2 to 5 inches.

* Winds: gusts up to 40 mph may lead to areas of blowing snow.

* Snow levels: 4500 to 5000 feet... falling to valley floors.

* Impacts: chain or snow tire requirements possible above 5500
feet today... with requirements possibly spreading into valleys
this evening with slick and snow covered roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during
periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to
reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since
it takes longer to stop on slick roadways.
