Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 9:34 AM EDT Apr. 27, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EDT this
afternoon...

* locations... sensitive communities along the DC and Alexandria
shoreline.

* Tidal departure... around 0.5 to 1 foot above normal.

* Timing... around the early morning high tide. At Washington
Channel high tide will be at 9:13 am and at 9:31 am at
Alexandria.

* Impacts... shoreline inundation is expected along portions of
the seawall adjacent to Ohio drive and the Hains Point loop
Road. Water is expected to approach the curb near the
intersection of King Street and strand street in Alexandria.
Minor shoreline inundation is possible elsewhere.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

Forecast tides are referenced to mean lower low water
(mllw) and mean higher high water (mhhw) unless
otherwise noted. Time of high total tide is
approximate to nearest hour. Total tide combines the
normal tide and departure from normal. Flood impact
is based on the total tide and waves where applicable.
