Coastal Flood Advisory, High Surf Advisory, Coastal Hazard Statement
Issued: 3:43 PM CDT Apr. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High rip current risk remains in effect through late Sunday
night...
... Coastal flood advisory in effect until 4 am CDT Monday...
... High surf advisory in effect from noon Saturday to 6 am CDT
Monday...

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a coastal flood
advisory, which is in effect until 4 am CDT Monday. A high surf
advisory has also been issued. This high surf advisory is in
effect from noon Saturday to 6 am CDT Monday.

* Coastal flooding... 2 to 3 feet above mean sea level.

* Waves and surf... 5 to 8 foot breakers

* timing... over the weekend.

* Impacts... frequent life-threatening rip currents are expected. The
surf is dangerous for all levels of swimmers. The greatest threat
for minor coastal flooding will occur during afternoon high tides.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents. Rip currents are life-
threatening to anyone entering the surf. Swim near a lifeguard.
If caught in a rip current remain calm. Don't fight the current.
Swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape,
face the shore and call or wave for help. If tired, float or
tread water until out of the rip current.

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
