... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to
11 am MST Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 5 PM this
afternoon to 11 am MST Saturday.

* Snow accumulations... generally one to three inches below 7500
feet with higher amounts of two to four inches possible above
7500 feet.

* Timing... while periods of light to briefly moderate snow are
expected today... the more persistent and heavier snow will begin
by tonight and persist through Saturday morning. Snow will
become more intermittent and showery by late Saturday morning.

* Winds... west 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 40 mph today with
higher speeds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts to 50 mph over the
Central Highlands near Clines Corners. Winds will decrease some
overnight... but will re-strengthen on Saturday.

* Snow levels... temperatures will become cold enough for snow at
all locations after dark this evening. Snow levels will rise to
5500 to 6500 feet late Saturday morning.

* Local impacts... roads may become snowpacked and icy... and travel
may be impacted on Interstate 40 west of Laguna and also between
Albuquerque and Clines Corners.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
visibilities will be restricted due to a combination of falling
and blowing snow.
