..locally dense smoke impacting roadways near Rockledge...

Smoke from a lightning-induced wildfire near Rockledge yesterday
continues to burn and smolder this morning. High humidity and light
winds shifting southwest have caused smoke to spread and cross over
Interstate 95 posing a significant hazard to driving with
visibilities capable of dropping to below one-quarter mile within
very short distances. Select roads in the vicinity may be closed for
the morning commute. Interstate 95 southbound has already been
closed. The smoke will drift into parts of Rockledge and Cocoa.
Motorists are urged to use extra caution and be prepared to stop.
Detours may cause additional delays. Always use low beam headlights
in fog and smoke.

The smoke hazard will persist beyond sunrise into the mid-morning. As
the wildfire Burns well into the day... diurnal mixing will help thin
and disperse the smoke.
