... High rip current risk now in effect through Thursday morning...

* timing... through Thursday morning.

* Impacts... strong and dangerous rip currents are forecast along
the Atlantic beaches of South Florida, which will be hazardous
for those in the surf zone.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

... Significant weather advisory for 45 to 55 mph winds for western
Collier and central Hendry counties until 630 PM EDT...

* at 535 PM EDT... Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms extending from Lehigh Acres to Bonita Springs to 39
miles southwest of Cape Romano, moving east at 30 mph.

* The primary impacts will be gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph. These
winds can down small tree limbs and branches... and blow around
unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the
storm passes.

* Locations impacted include...
Naples, Marco Island, Ave Maria, Golden Gate estates, Immokalee,
Belle Meade, Cape Romano, Orangetree, East Naples, Golden Gate,
lely resort, Big Corkscrew Island, vineyards, Royal Palm Hammock,
Naples Park, Marco Island Airport, Naples Manor, west Toll Gate on
Alligator alley, North Naples and Pelican Bay.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for
southern and southwestern Florida.

* at 452 PM EDT... Doppler radar was tracking multiple showers and
strong thunderstorms across the South Florida interior, along with
the the Palm Beach County and most of Broward County. The showers
and thunderstorms are moving northeast at 50 mph.

* The primary impacts will be gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph. These
winds can down small tree limbs and branches, and blow around
unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the
storm passes.
