Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 2:58 PM EDT May. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Wednesday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South
Carolina, including the following areas, in southeast North
Carolina, Bladen, coastal Brunswick, coastal New Hanover,
coastal Pender, Columbus, inland Brunswick, inland New
Hanover, inland Pender, and Robeson. In northeast South
Carolina, coastal Georgetown, coastal Horry, Darlington,
Dillon, Florence, inland Georgetown, inland Horry, Marion,
Marlboro, and Williamsburg.

* Through Wednesday evening

* bouts of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain will move
across the area into Wednesday night. Excessive rainfall is
possible where thunderstorms with heavy rain repeatedly move
over the same area. Widespread additional rainfall amounts of 1
to 3 inches are likely with locally upwards of 4 or more inches
possible.

* The potential for flash flooding will be highest in areas of
poor drainage. Urban areas will be most susceptible to flash
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
