Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 10:05 PM CDT Jul. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* flood advisory for minor flooding in poor drainage areas for...
southern Montague County in north central Texas...
southern Cooke County in north central Texas...

* until midnight CDT.

* At 1003 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms that were
producing heavy rainfall across areas south of Highway 82 between
Gainesville and Nocona. Excessive runoff from these thunderstorms
will cause minor flooding. Areas that are low lying or usually
experience poor drainage are most likely to experience flooding.
This means some low water crossings in the region may become
impassable. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Gainesville, Bowie, sunset, Stoneburg, Lake Kiowa, ray Roberts Park
Johnson branch, Forestburg and Valley View.

Additional rainfall of an inch or more is possible across the
advisory area. Any additional rain will result minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
