Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 5:51 AM CDT May. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect from 1 PM CDT this afternoon
through late Tuesday night...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of Alabama, northwest Florida, and southeast
Mississippi, including the following areas, in Alabama,
Baldwin central, Baldwin coastal, Baldwin inland, Butler,
Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Escambia,
Mobile central, Mobile coastal, Mobile inland, Monroe,
Washington, and Wilcox. In northwest Florida, Escambia
coastal, Escambia inland, Okaloosa coastal, Okaloosa inland,
Santa Rosa coastal, and Santa Rosa inland. In southeast
Mississippi, George, Greene, Perry, stone, and Wayne.

* From 1 PM CDT this afternoon through late Tuesday night

* multiple rounds of heavy rain are expected across the entire area
through midweek. The bulk of the rain is expected to impact the
area beginning this afternoon and lasting through Tuesday night.
Rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches are expected with locally higher
amounts possible in addition to the 2.5 to 4 inches already
received this weekend. This additional rainfall will likely
exacerbate the already saturated ground across the region, which
may lead to flash flooding.

* Urban, low lying, and poor drainage areas will be the most
susceptible to flash flooding. Road closures are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
