Issued: 12:34 AM CDT Jun. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
west central Caddo Parish in northwestern Louisiana...
southeastern Harrison County in northeastern Texas...

* until 330 am CDT

* at 1233 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across eastern Harrison County and western Caddo Parish
between Scottsville and Greenwood. Widespread rainfall amounts of
two to three inches have fallen within the last hour, with very
heavy rainfall with rates of two to three inches per hour
continuing to fall over the warned area, especially near Waskom
and just north of Greenwood. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Shreveport, Greenwood, Waskom, Elysian Fields, Jonesville and
Bethany.

Additional rainfall amounts of two to three inches are possible in
the warned area during the next couple of hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

... Significant weather advisory for southwestern Caddo Parish...
southeastern Harrison and northeastern Panola counties until 100 am
CDT...

At 1215 am CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Waskom, or 13 miles west of Shreveport, moving southeast at 10 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Shreveport, Greenwood, Waskom, deberry, Elysian Fields, Jonesville,
Spring Ridge, Bethany and midyett.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
