northwestern Columbia County in east central Georgia...
northwestern McDuffie County in east central Georgia...
southeastern Lincoln County in east central Georgia...
southwestern Edgefield County in central South Carolina...
southeastern McCormick County in central South Carolina...

* until 200 PM EDT

* at 120 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles northwest
of Thomson, moving northeast at 40 mph.

Hazard... 60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Parksville, Clarks Hill and Modoc.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the warned area. Tornadoes can
develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Although a tornado is not
immediately likely, if one is spotted, act quickly and move to a
place of safety inside a sturdy structure such as a basement or small
interior room.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

If on or near Strom Thurmond Lake, get away from the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Georgia and central South Carolina,
including the following areas, in east central Georgia, Burke,
Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie, and Richmond. In central South
Carolina, Aiken, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Chesterfield,
Clarendon, Edgefield, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee,
Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda,
and Sumter.

* Through this evening

* abundant moisture combined with an upper-level system and
stalled frontal boundary across the region will result in
numerous showers and thunderstorms through this evening. Heavy
rain will be possible at times across the watch area. Rainfall
amounts up to 2 inches with locally higher amounts are possible.


* Flooding may occur in low lying and flood prone locations and
especially in some urban areas. In addition, creeks, streams
and rivers may overflow their banks.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

should flash flood warnings be issued.
