The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of North Carolina and upstate South Carolina,
including the following areas, in North Carolina, Avery,
Buncombe, Burke mountains, Caldwell mountains, Cleveland,
eastern McDowell, eastern Polk, Gaston, greater Burke, greater
Caldwell, greater Rutherford, Henderson, Lincoln, McDowell
Mountains, Mitchell, Polk mountains, Rutherford mountains,
Transylvania, and Yancey. In upstate South Carolina,
Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Chester, greater Greenville,
greater Pickens, Greenville mountains, Greenwood, Laurens,
Pickens mountains, Spartanburg, Union, and York.

* Until 8 PM EDT this evening

* localized heavy rain remains possible into this evening. On top
of saturated soils, lingering high water conditions, elevated
stream levels, flooding may redevelop.

current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* flood advisory for rapid rises for...
Laurens County in upstate South Carolina...
northeastern Abbeville County in upstate South Carolina...
central Greenwood County in upstate South Carolina...

* until 715 PM EDT

* at 115 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This may cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in
the advisory area. 1-1.50 inches of rain have fallen over the
past 24 hours. An additional 1-2 inches of rain is likely over
the next 6 hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Greenwood, Laurens, Clinton, Ware Shoals, Ninety Six, Joanna, Cross
Hill, Donalds, Cokesbury and Waterloo.

* Scattered, nuisance stream flooding is possible, including along:
Cane Creek, Coronaca creek, hard labor creek, Turkey Creek,
Walnut Creek, rabon creek, Little River, and Duncan creek.

* Some streets may be impacted, including:
Harper St in Laurens, Poplar St in Lydia Mills, Earl court,
Poplar Dr, and ronnie Dr near Greenwood.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, streets
and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying
spots. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams will also occur,
possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown.

or landslides to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, or by posting on our facebook Page, or tweet
