Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 4:15 AM EDT Apr. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Monday afternoon through
Tuesday morning...

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued
a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of eastern North Carolina,
including the following areas, Duplin, Greene, Jones, Lenoir,
and Onslow.

* From Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.

* Rain showers will increase in coverage Monday afternoon and last
through Monday night. The rain may be heavy at times with
occasional thunderstorms. The episodes of heavy rain will lead
to a potential for flash flooding.

* Flash flooding is especially dangerous at night as it is very
difficult to see the depth of water on roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
