Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 6:17 PM EDT Apr. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1130 PM EDT for southern
person... Wayne... Nash... Orange... Edgecombe... southern Granville...
wake... Johnston... Wilson... eastern Chatham... Durham and Franklin
counties...

At 615 PM EDT, several roads across the warned area remained closed
due to flooding from the recent heavy rain. These water levels will
be slow to recede since the main Stem rivers are filling up, keeping
water levels in area creeks and streams higher than normal. While
some roads have re-opened, especially around the Raleigh area, other
roads in outlying areas or downstream of Raleigh will likely
remained closed until later this evening or Wednesday.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Rocky Mount, Chapel HIll, Goldsboro, Tarboro,
Smithfield, Hillsborough and Nashville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
