* High surf impacts... a high surf advisory means that high surf
will affect beaches in the advisory area... producing localized
beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.

* Rip current timing... this afternoon through Tuesday evening.

* Rip current impacts... strong and dangerous rip currents are
forecast which will be hazardous for those in the surf zone.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore... which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins...
jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards... beach patrol...
flags and signs.

If you become caught in a rip current... Yell for help. Remain

Gale Warning, Small Craft Advisory
Issued: 2:48 PM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Gale Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening...
... Small Craft Advisory in effect from 7 PM this evening to 4 am
EST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay Ruskin has issued a
Small Craft Advisory, which is in effect from 7 PM this evening
to 4 am EST Tuesday.

* Winds... around 30 knots with gusts to 40 knots... decreasing to
around 20 knots.

* Waves/seas... 12 to 20 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
