Issued: National Weather Service

Fc/icolonpagan

922 PM AST sun Apr 23 2017

The National Weather Service in San Juan has extended the

* flood advisory for...
Yabucoa municipality in Puerto Rico...
Caguas municipality in Puerto Rico...
Cayey municipality in Puerto Rico...
Maunabo municipality in Puerto Rico...
San Lorenzo municipality in Puerto Rico...
Patillas municipality in Puerto Rico...

* until 1245 am AST

* at 920 PM AST, Doppler radar continues to indicated heavy rain
across these municipalities. In addition, river sensors indicated
rivers and creeks across these area are running at high levels.
This will continue to cause minor flooding in the advisory area as
well as rapid rises in creek and rivers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
