... Excessive heat warning in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to
8 PM EDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in State College has issued an
excessive heat warning... which is in effect from 3 PM this
afternoon to 8 PM EDT this evening. This upgrades the heat
advisory which is no longer in effect.

* Heat index values... 105 to 110 degrees due to the combination of
temperatures in the mid 90s... and dewpoints in the mid 70s.

* Timing... this afternoon and evening.

* Impacts... heat stress or heat stroke. Limit outdoor exposure
and be sure to drink plenty of fluids. Seek air conditioning
if available.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Limit or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities. Find shade and
stay hydrated. Check up on the elderly... sick and those without
air conditioning. Never leave kids or pets unattended... look
before you lock.
