... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to
10 am EST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 4 PM this
afternoon to 10 am EST Tuesday.

* Locations... Genesee and Cattaraugus counties.

* Timing... rain will change to snow late this afternoon and
continue through late Tuesday morning.

* Hazards... snow.

* Accumulations... 3 to 6 inches tonight and an inch or less
Tuesday... leading to storm totals of 3 to 6 inches.

* Winds... northeast 5 to 15 mph.

* Visibilities... as low as a quarter mile at times.

* Temperatures... around 40 this afternoon. Lows around 30
tonight. Around 30 Tuesday.

* Impacts... wet snow will result in slick travel conditions. The
worst travel conditions are expected Monday night into Tuesday
morning... which will make for a slippery Tuesday morning
commute.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory is normally issued for a variety of
winter weather conditions such as light snow, blowing snow,
sleet, freezing rain and wind chills. While the weather will be
significant, the word advisory implies that severe winter weather
is not anticipated.

* winds... northeast 20 to 25 knots.

* Waves... 3 to 6 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 18 to 33 knots
and/or waves averaging 4 feet or more are expected to produce
hazardous wave conditions to small craft. Inexperienced
mariners... especially those operating smaller vessels... should
avoid navigating in these conditions.
