Issued: 6:26 AM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 PM this evening
to 7 PM EST Tuesday...

* locations... northern Cayuga... Oswego... and Lewis counties.

* Timing... rain will change to snow early this evening and
continue through early Tuesday evening.

* Hazards... heavy wet snow mixed with some sleet early this
evening.

* Accumulations... 3 to 6 inches tonight and 2 to 3 inches
Tuesday... leading to storm totals of 5 to 9 inches.

* Snowfall rates... an inch per hour during the heaviest snow
overnight into Tuesday morning.

* Winds... northeast 10 to 15 mph.

* Visibilities... as low as a quarter mile at times.

* Impacts... heavy wet snow will result in difficult travel
conditions. The heaviest snow will fall overnight into early
Tuesday. This will result in a difficult commute Tuesday
morning. The heavy wet snow may also result in a few tree limbs
coming down and isolated power outages.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning is issued when severe winter weather is
expected. Heavy snow and/or ice will cause hazardous driving
conditions. If you will be traveling in the warning area you
should choose an alternate Route if possible... or you should use
extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Small Craft
Advisory... which is in effect from 4 am to 1 PM EST Tuesday.

* Winds... northeast 15 to 20 knots.

* Waves... 3 to 5 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 18 to 33 knots
and/or waves averaging 4 feet or more are expected to produce
hazardous wave conditions to small craft. Inexperienced
mariners... especially those operating smaller vessels... should
avoid navigating in these conditions.
