Lake Effect Snow Advisory
Issued: 3:28 AM EST Dec. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect Snow Advisory in effect from 10 PM this evening to
7 am EST Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a lake
effect Snow Advisory... which is in effect from 10 PM this evening
to 7 am EST Saturday. The lake effect snow watch is no longer in
effect.

* Locations... southern Oneida... southern Cayuga... Onondaga... and
Madison counties.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches, with much of
the snowfall occurring Friday and Friday night. The higher
terrain in southern Onondaga and southern Madison counties will
see the most snowfall.

* Timing... some snow showers are expected this evening, but the
more persistent and heavier lake effect snow bands will shift
into the region Friday morning and continue Friday night before
tapering off on Saturday.

* Impacts... lake effect snow and gusty winds will lead to
considerable blowing and drifting of snow along with whiteout
conditions at times. This will result in very dangerous travel.

* Winds... west 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... in the middle to upper 20s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake effect Snow Advisory Means Lake-effect snow is forecast
that will make travel difficult in some areas. Lake-effect snow
showers typically align themselves in bands and will likely be
intense enough to drop several inches in localized areas. Use
caution when traveling.
