Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 9:58 AM EDT Jul. 28, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from 6 PM EDT this evening
through Friday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania... including
the following areas... in New Jersey... eastern Monmouth...
Hunterdon... Mercer... Middlesex... Somerset and western
Monmouth. In southeast Pennsylvania... lower Bucks and upper
Bucks.

* From 6 PM EDT this evening through Friday evening

* periods of showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected for
tonight into Friday. Some of the thunderstorms may contain
torrential rainfall and result in a localized flash flood
threat. At this time, the greatest risk for flash flooding
appears to be overnight tonight into Friday morning.

* The axis of heaviest rain still remains uncertain. However, the
potential for localized rainfall amounts of 2 or more inches in
one hour will bring the risk for flash flooding particularly in
urban areas. Isolated rainfall amounts of 3 inches or more are
possible during this event where storms move repeatedly over the
same area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
