Issued: 10:03 AM EST Jan. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening...

* locations... all of eastern New York and adjacent western New
England.

* Hazard types... sleet and freezing rain... with some snow mixing
in as well.

* Additional snow and sleet accumulations... a coating to an inch
snow and sleet.

* Additional ice accumulations... a trace to a tenth of an inch
for valley areas with a tenth to a quarter of an inch for
higher terrain locations.

* Timing... a mixture of freezing rain and sleet will continue
throughout the day today. Some snow may mix in at times...
mainly for this afternoon.

* Impacts... slush and ice covered roads will make for hazardous
travel. Sidewalks... driveways... and parking lots will be very
slippery. The combination of gusty winds and wet snowfall may
lead to some localized power outages as well.

* Winds... north 10 to 20 mph. Some gusts up to 35 mph are
possible... mainly over western New England.

* Temperatures... in the lower to middle 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

... Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 6 am EST
Wednesday...

* winds and seas... northwest winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30
kt.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that sustained wind speeds or
frequent gusts of 25 to 33 kt and/or seas of 5 ft or higher are
expected or occurring... and hazardous to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels... should avoid navigating in these conditions.
