... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to
7 am EST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for sleet... snow and light freezing rain... which
is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 7 am EST Tuesday.

* Locations... the high terrain of northeast Connecticut... southwest
and south central Massachusetts as well as interior northeast
Massachusetts.

* Hazard types... mainly sleet with perhaps a bit of snow and
pockets of light freezing rain.

* Accumulations... snow/sleet accumulation of up to 1 inch... along
with around a trace of ice accretion.

* Timing... while some light rain showers will occur through late
afternoon with perhaps some light snow and sleet across interior
northeast MA. Heavier precipitation in the form of mainly sleet
will develop between 5 and 8 PM this evening... potentially
impacting a part of the evening rush hour. Sleet may be mixed
with some snow for a time this evening across interior northeast
Massachusetts. Precipitation will change to mainly rain by
daybreak Tuesday, but pocket of light freezing rain will be
possible across interior northeast Massachusetts.

* Impacts... untreated roads and walkways will become slippery this
evening. This may impact the evening rush hour.

* Winds... northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.





Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 4:14 AM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect from 1 PM EST this afternoon
through Tuesday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Massachusetts and Rhode Island... including the
following in Massachusetts... Bristol... central ... and
southeast Middlesex... Essex... Norfolk... Plymouth and Suffolk.
In Rhode Island... Bristol... Kent... Newport... Providence and
Washington.

* From 1 PM EST this afternoon through Tuesday morning

* heavy rain is expected Monday evening through early Tuesday
morning. Most locations can expect between 1.50 and 3 inches of
rain with localized higher amounts.

* Locations that receive 3 or more inches of rain may experience
localized urban and perhaps some minor small stream flooding. Larger
mainstem rivers should remain within their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means flooding is possible. If you live or work in
an area prone to flooding... take the time now to protect any
items that could be damaged by flood waters.

Drivers should be prepared for slower than usual commutes Monday
afternoon and possibly Tuesday morning. Know alternate routes in
case roads become flooded. Never drive through a flooded roadway!

... Wind Advisory in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 am EST
Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 am
EST Tuesday.

* Location... northern Connecticut... Rhode Island as well as
southwest... central and eastern Massachusetts

* winds... northeast 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 40 and 50 mph.

* Timing... winds will increase today with the strongest winds
occurring tonight.

* Impacts... these winds will be capable of Downing and few trees
and possibly result in isolated power outages.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph are
expected... with gusts between 46 to 57 mph. Winds this strong are
capable of Downing small tree limbs and branches, possibly
causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult...
especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
