Berkley, Michigan weekly forecast 1/12-1/18

By: wxchaser97 , 7:17 AM GMT on January 12, 2013

This forecast period has a crazy temperature swing that resembles a March-like pattern. An unusual set-up for this time of year closes today. Our weather has been dictated primarily by a ridge sitting over our area. This has caused temperatures to rise into the 40s and 50s which has eliminated most of our snow pack. This is expected to change as a system will move through here with rain Saturday night and mix precipitation Sunday. A cold front will cool temperatures back down into the 30s. The work week will feature relatively quiet and cool conditions besides a possible clipper system Wednesday into Thursday. Hopefully we can get some cold air to move in and stick around for the rest of winter.

Graphical Forecast:

Have a great night/morning and I'll have a new forecast next week. I'm working on my TCR's at a slow pace due to being busy and sick over break. When I get time after mid-terms some more steady work should resume on them.

The 00z GFS brings the North Pole to the Midwest in the latter part of its run. It would get bitterly cold for several days here before moderating due to a snow system moving through. After that there is a reenforcing shot of cold air. The ECMWF also had arctic air spilling into Michigan and surrounding areas. This is something that has to be watched.
