Today we received our first much needed rain since April 14 along with some thunder, during which temperatures dropped more than 20 degrees and still dropping. We're hoping for an early start of the monsoon season after seeing daily temperatures rising higher than normal for the past month. Total precipitation so far today is 0.17 inches, a good start.
Last year's chili plants are thriving with new leaf growth and chilies. The old parsly plants are near flowering, the sage is looking good. The garlic from last fall may be near harvesting becuase their leaves are turning brown (were still learning how to grow garlic). I kept the basil at the kitchen window and it likes it there. We are now experimenting with growing okra from seed pods, we love it fried but growing it is new to us...we'll see.
