Happy Halloween..Pictures..

Oct 30, 2012: Happy Halloween tomorrow and Prayers up for the family & friends of those in the
North East that lost their lives and homes in Monster Storm/Hurricane Sandy.

I cannot believe how fast time if going by now I am no longer going to work every week.
Days & weeks just zip by so quickly it is scary. And I am enjoying everyone of them these days.

New England is in for a lot of reconstruction and clean up in the coming weeks. Not pretty what storms will do to an area.

-------------------------------------- ---

Here are my weather Maps. This one had to be removed from my above the blog spot; it was causing my computer problems.

I found out, these maps are measuring fire hazard and soil moisture, not necessary drought according to rainfall.

Hi NEw, actually I am staying very busy and that is part of the problem. I am busying doing things I did not necessarily expect to be doing now!

With Ellen and 2 young kids in the house, it is never really "restful"! LOL

Actually I have no idea how I found the time I needed to get so much done while I worked!

I will keep you updated so when it is your turn you will be able to learn from my experiences!

Hi everyone,

I just tried to load 5 photos and they all got rejected because the screen flipped and I could not put in the location. I may try again later.
It was just some fun pictures of the 4 grands that were here last Saturday night.

I am going to try and make two new Christmas Front Door Wreaths this afternoon.
I got all the "stuff" I need to put it together last Tuesday with my 50% off coupons at Michaels.

I will make a picture when it is ready! If I can get it loaded!

Enjoy your Day.. Wow it is already Friday!

GM,gamma, its interesting following you experiences after retirement,Im not too far away myself, not in any big rush, but after working all ones life, suddenly to have a life long routine changed, isn't as easy as it sounds. I've seen people really struggle with it.I think the big things is to have things to do.Don't suddenly stop doing things,in fact try to keep the same hours as when you worked and slowly modify your days to adjust your system.Your body really does set an internal clock and it doesn't like to get disrupted suddenly,ex.flying over many timezones.Jet lag can really affect some people.
Good luck,Im taking notes as you progress.
We have had an early visit from winter. Our nor'easter has dumped up to 8 inches of snow on some, for me a couple of inches of wet snow, currently raining, but very windy.Big warmup coming Sunday and monday, thankfully.

Good morning, wow, I am behind on getting on my computer or FB in the last few days!

NEw, Ylee, Rob, LT, and Shore, thank you all for stopping by.
I am getting "better" about knowing what day of the week it is so that is good.

Also trying to "settle" into a pattern but it seems curve balls are always being thrown in my directions.

Since I've been "home" for what around 6weeks now, 3 of those weeks hubby's vette has not been running so I am either taking him to work at 6am and picking him up at 7:30pm or letting him have my car for days at a time and I am staying home.

I don't know what we would have been doing if I had to go to work myself during these times.
Yesterday he had one problem fixed and on way to work this morning his car broke down with a different problem. I had to leave and go pick him up and take him to work.

His old antique 1987 Vette is just falling apart and has become a money pit, but he does not want to get another vehicle right now and he will never let go of that old car. It really needs about $10,000 worth of work to get it back in shape again.

I was out and about doing errands all day Tuesday...
Then home yesterday, Rylee was not feeling well so she was home with me. we made Chicken soup & matzo balls & egg noodles.

I need to get out today and run some errands and come back and get some house work done.

Hopefully one of these days things will settle down a little; hopefully after the holidays and I can really focus on my paintings but for now I just cannot do it.

So much has been going on with our family with Greg off in the GOM on his new job where he is gone for 3 weeks then home for 3 weeks (tonight is his first trip back home).. Christian is still in New Jersey but they are sending them home this weekend (or rather back to his training in NE Fla)...
hopefully not this weekend but the next he will get to come home and see Ellen and the kids.

And we have had "family functions" going on and we have a Bar Mitzvah this Saturday to attend.
Time is zipping by so fast!

These first 6 weeks of "retirement" have not worked out the way they were originally planned....
but I will not be deterred from my goals starting early next year!

I know I've been saying this for ages now but I will get back here on a more regular bases soon....I guess it is sort of a "break"..

I do love seeing your comments and posts and thank you all for stopping by when you can!!!

Hi Gamma, nice Halloween pics. At least you guys had a good Halloween down there. Here, in the NY Tri state area, it was not so nice. Very little trick or treating, it wasn't safe for the kids to go around,--so many trees down, power lines down, and of course people without power. Not to mention those who had physical damage to there homes, or lost their homes entirely. Was nice to see those happy pictures!

Loved the Halloween pics! Those carved pumpkins are great - but I confess, I still like the old-fashioned toothy grins the best. The kids' costumes were wonderful. Rylee looks a little too grown up to me - time is passing, for sure.

I'm wondering about Sandi's rabbits - the pink must be their Halloween costume!

I'm glad your weather was good. That makes such a difference. While I was in Kansas I had the experience of scraping frost off the car in the morning. This was the real stuff, too. None of that "let's use this rubber thingie" business. I had to use a regular scraper. It's much more fun when you know you're leaving it behind.

When I got home from my trip Thursday, my neighbor had her Christmas wreath hanging already. I nearly died. It's TOO SOON!!!

Hi Gamma!

I'm a bit little late for the Halloween festivities this year, due to waking up late from a much needed nap. LOL!

Hope you and yours had a safe and enjoyable HALLOWEEN and that November will provide those, who faced various losses with Hurricane Sandy, with hope, recovery and the ability to enjoy the coming holidays ahead.

Hubby and I made out A-Okay without any damage to home or property. We had a 9 hr power outage due to 61 mph wind gusts and pelting rain but were well prepared with emergency supplies, i.e., batteries, lanterns, radios and plenty of pre-cooked food, etc. It sure helped that our outside evening temps rose to 58-60 degrees, so the interior of our home remained a comfortable 70F without the use of a working generator right now. We're saving up for a new one before winter sets in. It's an absolute must these days!

Thought I'd leave you with some of the traditionally fun-filled Halloween graphics/music of yesteryear. Hope it lifts the spirits of young and old alike. ENJOY!

Happy Halloween, gamma.Wow sounds like you got a real soccer star there. She must have had a grin from ear to ear.
Not sure what our halloween is going to be like up here.Hard to say,no real dangers around most of the neighborhood, but leaves and debris everywhere,so I suspect it will be a light turn out.

Good morning,

Oh my goodness I was so busy yesterday I forgot it is time to get my "alter ego" out and my Halloween blog!

Will get to that this morning.

Last night was Rylee's first soccer game of the season.
They have only had 2 practices so far.
It is her 3rd year on a team but the first year was not really playing the sport. Last year she actually played some.

But this year.. she is a Rock Star!

The game was about 15 mins in and no one had scored then Rylee (who plays forward) kicked the ball in the goal and scored.

The coach took her out to rest and to let another player get in some play time...then in about 10 mins
they put Rylee back in and she scored again!

Our team won 2 to 0 and Rylee made both points!

Oh Yes, she is a "Chip off the old block". Ellen was a great soccer player in school... and I do believe
Ellen was more excited over Rylee's goals than Rylee was!

Last night Ellen stayed up and got one of our large pumpkins carved and did a fantastic job.
I do believe Ellen is now better than I use to be at doing fancy carvings on pumpkins.

I have 2 pumpkins to get carved today and told the kids I would make Halloween Orange Popcorn balls today.

Octfun, I don't think I have ever seen you around on Halloween but I was not here much last year.
Thanks for the reminder!

Gardengrrl & Sandi, thank you and BOO back at ya!

I must get going here got a lot to do today ...

And our weather is perfect. It is still cool but not cold and the wind has finally calmed down after blowing hard the past 5 or 6 days.

and for the first time in many years, we are not going to get rain on Halloween.
Finally our kids get to trick or treat without umbrellas!

I will be back later....

Are you the artist I have heard about? You know that your new cool weather is conducive to creative thoughts. You could always round up your art supplies and paint while on the boat. Isnt that where Picasso painted? May I suggest painting aboard boat while in a storm. Now that would be Picasso-like. Or are your desires at the moment to scare your little ones into horrific laughter and rib busting fun? Yes, I feel that is your plan!
Holiday spirits never forget WU tradition!

Help me paint some Halloween fun into this WU blog.

Good morning,

Scott, Sandi, Ylee, Bug and anyone else who stopped by.. thanks!

Actually the weather was not all that good for fishing last weekend in Flora City. It was cloudy, very cool and very windy the entire weekend. We tried to take the boat out very early Sat morning and it was rough and fish were not biting.

But had a great time anyway and did catch a few off the dock behind their house.

Goodness, Sandi, your "storm with a y" did cause a lot of trouble here in the States!

My area did well; just a lot of wind and only a few inches of rain.

Betsey, in Boston only lost power for 3 hours last night and is OK. She mostly got tropical storm power winds.

Over on Facebook, Pros (Maria) is ok and still has power and had a lot of bad weather but came out ok.

Last time we heard from HeavySnow (Danny) he was getting hit and lost power. I am sure he is ok just cannot get on line right now.

Still a few of the old WUBA crowd we have not heard from yet. There is a "WUBA Group" over on FB that is "off" the main wall that everyone is suppose to "check in" as soon as they can.

son in law, Christian, (Ellen's husband, Rylee & Nolan's dad) is up there with FPL.
They pulled him out of his lineman training from north Florida and sent him up with a crew Sunday. He is driving one of the big bucket FPL trucks and pulling a trailer full of supplies.

They stopped first in Atlanta, GA then last night stayed in North Carolina until the storm blows out.
I think they are heading for Virginia this morning.

We may not see him again for 2 or 3 weeks with so many out of power.

I am sure my son, Greg, would be up there if he still had his old job. But with his new job he is out in the middle of the Gulf Of Mexico on a Oil Rig Ship.

We got our first "cold front" and woke up to 53 degrees this morning. Even colder than yesterday's 60 degree.

Hubby & I went to early vote yesterday morning and stood in line for 2 1/2 hrs in the hard icy cold wind. All us South Florida people were freezing to death! But we hung in there and did it.

I had on 2 long sleeve sweaters and a jacket and was so cold I hurt! LOL

Bug, "Sandy" was good to us, no more rain than a normal afternoon storm with this one but a lot of windy weather for the past 4 or 5 days now.
Sure glad your area was not harmed but points north of you got hammered.

Scott, wow, looks like winter has arrived in your area. Yes it was not the fishing trip I was hoping for but at least got to fish a little. Stay warm and keep in touch.

Sandi, "Shame On YOU" !! LOL Just kidding... those "Y names" can be so much meaner than us "I names" !

Ylee, I don't think I watched one game of the final WS this year. Was just too busy doing other things plus I really did not care between the two teams who won.. it was the SF Giants wasn't it?

Thank you all for stopping by.

I promised the kids I would try to get some Halloween decorations out today.
It is still really cold and windy but no rain in the forecast so going to get it started today.
Then Rylee has a scoccer game tonight and since this is her 2nd year to really play she is good in her position. She is very quick and agile and can score points for her team. Chip off the old block if I must say so myself! She does come from a strong line of very athletic women!

Catch you all later, phone ringing
