August Summer!

By: seflagamma , 12:45 PM GMT on July 27, 2012

Aug 12, 2012: Today is the birthday of two of our WU friends, Storm Junkie and DocNDswamp. I always call Doc my Leo/Snake/Bro because he is exactly 1 weeks older than me.

Aug. 9, 2012 new grandson Teagan was 4 weeks old. tomorrow Aug 11th he will be 1 month old.
I got two pictures Betsey took of him yesterday off Facebook and loaded it up here on WU (I Hope it loads properly) so everyone can see it. He is so cute and growing so fast.

Aug 9, 2012: Happy Birthday Ogal!

Aug 3, 2012, 3:12 EDT: TS Ernesto still rolling into Caribbean. Now today we have added 90L off Africa and that is a Big Swirl.. and that tropical wave off our SE Fla coast between us and Bahamas, has been named 91L.
Cannot believe that "wave" has now started swirling right over our heads! Got a big storm with a lot of wind and rain from it during lunch time today.
All Eyes are on the Tropics!

Aug 2, 2012: TD5 was named TS Ernesto this afternoon. If it survives tomorrow it could cause some trouble down the road.
Keep your eyes in the Caribbean for the next week!

July 27, 2012: Finally a new blog thread.
Summer Rocks!!!!
Not sure what I will put in here but I am sure I will have something before a few days pass by!
I think that not having a "named tropical system" during the month of July is not normal....
I know in 1992 Andrew did not form until end of August....
but that was not a normal year either.
So been very lucky this far!

Here are my weather Maps. This one had to be removed from my above the blog spot; it was causing my computer problems.

I found out, these maps are measuring fire hazard and soil moisture, not necessary drought according to rainfall.

I Added the photo from October 2008 of Hubby & I with Sanya Richards-Ross after she returned from 2008 Olympics. Yesterday she fulfilled her dreams of winning the Gold in her specialty , 400M.. It was great news to hear of her success.

Ernesto which is struggling to stay alive and looks to move west into the western carribean and unsure where it goes from there, and we have 90L way out.So you in Florida and the gulf and east coast will have our Tropic glasses on for the next 2 to 3 months.Lets hope we stay lucky as we have the past few years.

The last TS Ernesto in 2006 ended up being a very hyped up flop!

Happy belated white rabbits x 3, gamma!

99L is now TD5, and at the moment, they have it staying south of Puerto Rico and Cuba, not turning into a hurricane until Monday!

Hang in there!

Glad to see you home, Gamma, even though you're in up to your neck at home and at work! Hopefully once you get your shutters up, that will scare away ol' '99! :)

GM,gamma,I was on vacation last week,so I sympathize with that first day back, but even worse for you away three weeks.I hope you enjoyed your time up here, although you probably didn't have a lot of relax time.
My vacation came to a sudden crashing end on Friday night as we had to put our beloved Prince to sleep. He was struggling so badly with his breathing due to his heart problems and we had made so many trips to the hospital over the past few months,we could not let him suffer any longer. My wife and I have taken this hard, but it was the right decision.

Hi Everyone and Good morning.

Jeff, I just saw that swirl heading this way and wondered if that was something to see... I was going to go straight to the Tropical Page to see if it was an invest and I see from your post it already is.
At least it will be something to watch a few days!
After Hubby and I got all our yard work and cleaning the window and screen done we had about 2 hrs to get in the pool and it felt so good.
No rain yesterday but we have 20% chance today.

Thanks for letting me know about Invest 99!

Spathy, yes it is GOOD to be home! Even if it means going back to work!

Bug, I think all big organization do this now. "Mid Years" then "End of Year" and all those "feedback" forms.
Certain departments still sent out emails for "feedback" on their performances...
and my direct reports get a chance several times a year to provide "feedback" about their leader, etc.

But no matter what is written about you, or even your scorecard which shows your results based on your goals.... upper management can still give you any rating they feel like giving you regardless of how well you did or how bad you did.
So that is all just a bunch of bologna so they are following HR"s requirements.
And Yes that was me you probably heard when I got back to my desk and open my email at work last Thursday!!!!

Scott, Mid 60's in afternoon??? Are you crazy.. that is winter weather to me! LOL Nice of you to stop by.

Now I guess I need to so see what 99 is up to..

Have a good Monday.

Oh yes, today is MandyFSU's 29th birthday. She no longer comes to her blog here.. she is on FB all the time.
I cannot believe she is 29 yrs old... when we all first met her back in summer of 2005 she was only 22!

Psst...Invest 99..early models pointing in our general direction.  There are some harsh conditions on the way, but it's still worth keeping an eye on.

Well, I see you're back. Welcome home!

Like Dorothy said, "There's no place like home."

(Insert ominous music here) I see you're back to work. Fun, huh? I thought I heard an agonized scream from south of me last week. That must have been when you arrived in your office and saw your desk.

Performance reviews? Ya'll must be on the same schedule my office is for those. Ours are all due next month.

Being low man on the totem pole, I don't have to create the things but they're more interactive than they used to be. They're all online and you have to participate in the review. They're no longer something your boss goes over with you and you just sign. Bleah...

Plus, we also have to do 'peer reviews', where we review our co-workers. You have to do one on each of the coworkers in your unit and then they throw in one from outside the unit. I LOATHE those things.

anyway, I'm sure you're glad to be back (for the most part!). Keep us posted on how Betsey and Teagan are doing.

Gosh.. I just felt thunder!

Good evening Patti!

Wife and girls (and I, of course) went on a nice 10km hike on one of many hiking trails in the Black Forest near my house this afternoon. Weather was great, mid 60's in the early afternoon and a good breeze. That keeps me from getting hot on these hikes. I definitely would not have done this Friday when it was in the 90's!

Have a great Sunday evening!!

I was out east for early afternoon yesterday, and completely missed the rain!  I guess it's true that it doesn't rain as often there..
I'm getting ready to go help a friend's Mom move.  It's a good way to get exercise, right?   It looks like we'll be dealing with heat, but hopefully no rain.  And there is a pool at the new house...
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Good morning Pros, thank you so much.

Good Sunday morning to you all.

We had a severe rain storm move thru yesterday afternoon in parts of Broward. I know Weston and Sawgrass at Sunrise got a lot of flooding rain...I was in it during lunch break.
But when I got home, my rain gauges measured over 1"...
I think it is around 1 1/4 " I have not dumped them yet.

That is a lot of rain for an hour long storm.

This morning is clear, sunny and hot.
Hubby & I must clean up the screen and glass on that double window in the living room.
It is a mess.. I hate "doing windows"..
but once the plantation shutters are installed it will be a real hassle to remove them to get the screen off.
So it was recommended we do it before they are installed... which should be in the next 2 weeks.

And we have a little yard work to do then going out to one of our favorite Italian restaurants tonight.

Not sure how much I will be around.
Hope your day is a good one!

Happy Saturday morning to you all.

Not sure how much I will be around today; still very behind. I have a lot of Mid Year Performance Appraisals to finish writing and deliver.

I am hoping to get a few breaks to do a little blog reading to see what is going on out there in WU land.

YOu all enjoy your Saturday!

Good morning,

Of course I am at work, and I went to Dunkin Donuts this morning for my team and my coffee.
They missed me for the past 3 weeks!

Sandi, I just left your blog. LOVE those photos of opening night you have in your header.
That map of the whole Atlantic... or most of it.. is a good one. I think I got it from
Wabit's blog!
Yes, I am SWAMPED at work this week. Hope things calm down a little next month.

Karen, that is right, your "summer off time" will be over in a few weeks.
I think our kids go back to school around Aug 20th. They start earlier and earlier every year. Someone a few years ago suggested they start up again around Aug 10th but so many parents got upset because they take family vacations in August.
I know you will enjoy the rest of your time off.

Scott, glad to see you. So you finally got a taste of summer. That is great.
We will once again be in the mid 90's this afternoon. Sitting on the balcony with a cold beer is a great idea after work on a Friday night! Enjoy!!!

Welcome back, Patti!

After cool and rain last week we had SUMMER this week. It peaked at 92 degrees today, probably the only day this entire summer it will get above 90. It will all end tomorrow and be back to 70s by Sunday. It is too warm in the house so I am on my balcony, with a beer, of course!

Welcome home and welcome back to work, as hard as that must be. I still have about 4 weeks off and I plan to enjoy it! I've already done some planning, and still have to do more, but I try to save it for our overcast mornings when I don't really care to be outside. Once the sun appears, I'm outta here!
Member Since: December 31, 1969 Posts: Comments:
I can imaging you couldn't see you desk for work after three weeks away!
I love that second map in your header. It is the one I look at to see if anything is heading our way!!
Happy Friday :)

From previous blog.

Ylee & Sandi, yes I went back to work yesterday but I was buried so deep in work after being gone 3 weeks I could not come up for air! Then on top of that had a meeting I did not get out of until 8pm!

And today and tomorrow will not be any better...
but figured I must get here for a minute or two during my morning break to let you all
know I am alive...
and a new blog thread was necessary! LOL

I sure hope Saturday calms down a little so i can get a little caught up on your blogs.
