My walks with Abbey are sure bringing out the Metis ancestry. Am I ever getting brown.
Shore I agree with YLee's comment yesterday. it was interesting reading though. Portage has an Allis Chalmers' museum set up at the local museum. It is the worlds largest collection of Allis Chalmers collection in the world. Here's a link to the site.

We always had Case on the farm after the horses but yes I remember Allis Chalmers. Good product and many farmers used them. Now days, it's the big John Deere tractors with AC and stereo sound blasting away as they plow, sow and harvest. Yup farming was a blast but I don't really miss the working 12-14 hr days. Don't see too many Masseys around these days either.

Whoda thunk the largest A-C museum would be in Portage? I knew they sold a lot of equipment in Canada, but I figured the biggest one would be in Wisconsin(I think that's where there HQ was)

Shore: I didn't realize you were the Iowa farm girl! My apologies!

Bet you never cleaned tobacco worms off of burley.... :' )

What? You guys questioning my cred as a farm girl? Well, I suppose...

On the other hand, I can bake six kinds of pies without a recipe, neuter a tomcat with a rubber boot, a sponge and some drip ether, pull fence, detassle corn (except they mostly don't do that any more) and call pigs. Betcha I've driver an auger wagon more recently than Ylee, too!

But it's all in fun, and I did enjoy that Allis-Chalmers page. My dad worked for John Deere, and for a time I worked for Clay Equipment, in the honey wagon division. And no, that doesn't mean bees. ;)
