Keeping Busy on the Prairie

Click for Portage Southport, Canada Forecast
Today will bring clearing to the prairie this morning as the wind becomes northerly at 40 km/h (25 mph) gusting to 60 km/h (37 mph) this morning and the temperature falls to -19C(-2F) this afternoon. The strong winds will make it feel like
-31C(-23.8F) this afternoon.
Tonight will remain Clear with the northerly wind at 30 km/h (19 mph) becoming light late this evening. The overnight low will be -28C(-18F) with a wind chill of -39C(-38.2F).
I cut Abbey's stroll short yesterday. Was it ever slippery. I'll have to check my boots and see if the studs I installed are still in place. With today's forecasted strong northerly wind I think we'll stay home today and maybe get back to work on the windchester.
Yesterday I disassembled the wireless keyboard and cleand the sticky cola out of it. Today will be a task to see if I can remember where all the tiny pieces go and reassemble it. The thin plastic circuit board has a scorch mark on it all my work may have been in vain. I'll never know if I made a mistake assembling it or if the electronics are fried. it probably would have been easier to buy a new one but it filled part of my day. I also installed a new end on the Queen's block heater but so far this year we've had little use for it.
It seems overheating was the main problem. I've always told her to shut the thing off when she wasn't using it but no one listens to an old man. :) Those laptops aren't meant to be run full time and are hard to clean out accumulated dust. Desktops are easy to clean, just pop the cover off and use canned air to blow out the heat sinks and fans. On that note I think it's time I cleaned out my computer as it runs 24/7 to keep the window cam up to date.
I also worked on the grandmother clock which had quit working. I must need a cleaning too but I have it running again but the swing of the pendulum is very weak and because of the short swing it runs fast.
The concrete dust from the basement Reno's seems to have gotten into everything.

Hi, Tony! They make cooling pads that sit under the laptop, but that doesn't address the issue of the extra dust, though!

You must've turned your fans thisaway, because it's supposed to be below freezing all day Saturday!

Take care!

Good afternoon Tony. Yup MUSH you are first today..LOL

Yes unfortunately drywall dust is not good for electronics so that is going to be a major cleanup for you. If there is a scorch mark on the circuit board for the keyboard, chances are its fried. Get out your magnifying glass and have a look to see if all the connectors are in place before replacing everything back.

Fnally had a full nights sleep last night without waking up at 4:30. Those nights have been far and few the last few months. Hopefully I will settle back into a normal sleep pattern again.

Sun is shining here, suppose to get up into the low 40s today before the snow moves in late tonite. There is a cool breeze but otherwise a nice bright sunny day.

Have a great afternoon dear one. Try not to work too hard. If frustrations set in, just walk away from it for a bit then come back and try again. If the stock does not work this time, you may have to do it in two pieces and glue them together around the barrel.
