Big news in Portage today is the Portage Hotel fire. A landmark 100 year old building looks like it's going to be lost. The local fire department is on the scene as well as trucks from neighboring communities. I've posted some photo's in the Wunder photos.
On the domestic scene it's my 38th anniversary. Jeeze thats a long time with the same woman. No plans made for this evening but I'm sure she'll find something to do.

Grandchildren again last night. It seems that mom is off to the bar with my cousin to watch a local band, Johnny Deitrich, mostly country & western. The kids and I were off to the playground till almost dark.
Some girl had a wasp trap thrown at her on the way to the playground. She received multiple stings on hands, face and head. Thats got to hurt. Her parents took her to the hospital.
There sure are a lot of wasps this year. I must be the warm dry summer is an ideal breeding situation.

Another warm morning

By: plapman, 1:05 PM GMT on August 23, 2006

Forecast for today 28 high and 14 low. SE breeze at 15
Yesterdays high was 27.5 and low of 10.4.

Took Buck for a stroll along the tracks last evening. He has a fear of trains. 2 passed, I had a hard time getting him back on his leash for the first, never let him run after that. I don't know what caused the phobia, he's never been close to one. It sure limits our treks, as
both the CNR and CPR main line pass through the city. A train every 20 minutes would be a close estimate.
