north florida - wild florida

04:40, 74F, a haze. some stars. woke roosters up. pb&j for breakfast. packed a lunch. walked pup. hay to donkeys. guardian sleeping under truck.
05:50, 74F. light fog.
feeling puny. bowed out of field trip today. went back to bed.
14:20, 89F, sunny. hot.
18:40, 85F, partly cloudy. got 2 eggs. large black racer on back steps. mosquitoes getting annoying. bothering dogs. mosquito zapper not working. imperceptably, days get shorter.
20:50, 79F, waxing crescent moon obscured by trees. bats out hunting insects. not as much frog song this year as last. worrisome but maybe they will pick up as summer progresses. we can only hope.
