north florida - wild florida - suwannee sound

05:40, 74F, dense fog. roosters crowing. songbirds waking up. walked pup and old russell. guardian barking at shadows in the cactus field.
08:00 77F, foggy. heading to work, 3 separate deer sightings along 345. one was grazing with some horses. high tide rising at CK. 80F, clear. SW wind, 6 knts. no-see-ums out. fed cat. tide turns at 10:00. trawling and setting bait seine in barnett creek and dan-may. long haul from CK but water fairly smooth. low to medium sized catches. the usual critters, bait fish, some flat fish. no stingrays. lots of small lizard fish. trawled up a living horse conch that was 373 mm long. the shell was covered with small barnacles. put it back. did get one interesting fish - a very small fish that was tentatively identified as a bone fish. don't get many of those up here. water was 30C, 86F. warm. sunny. put up bimini top. some cormorants, frigate birds, and brown pelicans around. one pod of dolphins. a low-key day.
14:40, low tide at #4 bridge. roseate spoonbills out on the mud flats with some egrets.
19:40, 81F, partly cloudy. got 3 eggs. hung a load of sheets out at 15:40 and they're dry.
21:30, 77F. waxing gibbous moon overhead. some stars. fog forming. guardian dashing about. good night.
