07:30, 77F, overcast, gusty. CK had 20-30 knts. of wind from the south and we're getting some of it. no rain, though. just a brief shower that damped the ground but left dry ground under the trees. roosters crowing. wild critters lying low. pup sitting on picnic table. no one at back door - bunch of fair weather dogs ... peanut butter on muffin for breakfast. need coffee.
11:00, high tide rising at CK, blustery. south wind, 20 knts. 73F. ducks in the back creeks.
fed cat. fire ants are getting into cat food so found a large dish, added water plus cat bowl inside to keep ants away. cat chowing down. he's a friendly cat so went to market and bought a collar in hopes that tourists will see he's not just a friendly stray. he's the lab cat - mouser and greeter and eater of dried anchovies that fall out of the nets.. finally finished mending the old 600 ft. seine. hip still hurting so got the guys to load it back in the box, then load it into a boat, then load the 600 we used this month into the box and bring it around for mending. it was wet and smelly but lab cat still snoozed out on the part I flaked onto the ground in the search for rips and holes. mostly cloudy with some sun and a good breeze back in boat yard. mockingbird singing on fence. cat sleeping.
16:10, really high tide being driven in by west wind. tourists already flocking into town for festival. why they have to walk down the middle of the street is beyond me. they can gawk from the side of the road just as easy. fierce chop and waves at sandspit. if tide keeps rising, it will wash over the road. ducks unperturbed at #4 bridge. herons and egrets in marsh. wind from west at 12 knts. 71F. overcast.
19:20, 76F, breezy and overcast. no chance of seeing moon tonight. 1 deer slinking through donkey woodlot. pup carrying on at fence. big red-brown coyote streaking across cow pasture to the south, dashing right through cows into woods by donkey field. hmmm. guard dog needs to be on her toes.
21:10, 72F, fog/haze. wind's died down. let guard dog back in yard from sheep yard so she could eat her dinner. a lot of barking going on.
