30, 37F, clear and calm. venus, jupiter, orion, and waning crescent moon bright in the morning sky. woke up roosters. brought guard dog in for breakfast. dixie and bruiser at back door got breakfast, too. chilly ...
00, high tide rising at CK. 52F, NE wind, 5 knts. cold on the water. wore a lot of shirts, jeans, my waders, and a foul weather jacket. water temps, 15C, 59F. clear. sampled around deer island. lots of birds out hunkered on any exposed bar. brown pelicans, cormorants, willets and sand pipers.. the white pelicans stayed out on the offshore bars. one small flock of ducks. catches were low - a few redfish, some mullet, 2 small permit, and two 35 lb. black drum, plus stingrays. even the baitfish numbers have fallen. as the waters get colder, the fish migrate offshore to warmer waters with stable temperatures. the suwannee's water temps generally are cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, which also attracts fish. dozed off on the big net on the way back to the boat ramp. a spectacular day.
50, low tide rising at #4 bridge with beaucoup de birds - egrets, one spoonbill, herons large and small, a large flock of sanderlings ... 65F, SW wind, 4 knts.
15, 69F in the sun at the back door. slight breeze from the north. dogs out. sitting outside.
30, 60F, sun's setting, partly cloudy in pink. sheep fed. mellow light in donkey woodlot.
20, 55F, a haze. stars appearing.
