north florida - rocky hammock

By: marsHen , 12:10 PM GMT on May 19, 2012

07:18, 69F, overcast. roosters up. frogs croaking in the horse barn trough. fixin' to fry some bacon.
19:00, 81F, variable breezes, mostly cloudy but sunny too.. hung out a wash at 13:00, it was dry by 16:00. instead of mowing, I put sheep in yard for afternoon. (dogs in pen.) had to watch them sheep - keep them off the pear tree and the roses. swallow-tail kite circling the farm yard. 5-line skink at back door.. just about time to start the chores. got 2 eggs. damn sheep got into the oat hay. scattered half a bale all over the barn. pitchforked it up for them and the donkeys.
22:00, 75F, east breeze. stars out and all sparkly. venus low in the NW. dogs barking. fed red chickens late. eggs in a dark corner. left them for tomorrow.
so dry here. have to water plants and garden every evening. the farmers are hoping for rain. the pastures get shorter and shorter. we need rain bad.
