Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR)

By: lawntonlookers, 5:20 PM GMT on January 04, 2009

Can someone give me a reason why the new TDWR sites are so close together and near existing older NEXRAD sites? I can remember when they first set up the NEXRAD sites, they had them spaced so that virtually all of the US was covered. However some areas in the west are still not covered yet, we have four radars sites near Miami. If I understand them correctly, they are higher definition, but what other differences do they have.Richard
