Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, May 06, 2014
High pressure will build over the eastern Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, keeping conditions mostly clear across Mexico. The exception to this will be along southern Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, where a cold frontal boundary will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mexico City will be partly cloudy with a high of 82(F)/ 27(C), while Cancun will have a chance of afternoon showers with a high of 84(F)/ 28(C). These conditions will carry over to Central America, where more organized rain and thunderstorms will develop. Countries that can expect stormy weather include Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador and Honduras. An easterly wave of moisture will also usher thunderstorms across Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Across the Caribbean, the aforementioned frontal boundary will bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to Cuba, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In South America, a warm, muggy air mass will initiate thunderstorms across central and western Brazil, while strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible over the northern tier of Amazonas. Moderate to heavy rain will also occur along eastern facing mountain slopes across Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Meanwhile, rainy weather will develop along a cold frontal boundary, which is forecast to move across Bolivia, Paraguay and southeast Brazil. To the south, a very strong low pressure system will slam into central Chile. Moderate rain will occur across the lower elevations, while heavy rain and snow will be possible over the higher elevations. .
