I've upgraded my SLR body to a brand new Canon 5D Mark II. I bought it the day Canon announced it was being discontinued. I think it was taking away sales from the more expensive 6D.
It's not the latest and greatest, but it's the best I can afford. MY 17-40mm lens is very wide on this full frame body, so I'll eventually have to get another lens that can reach out a bit more. I'm looking at the 24-105mm, but I'll have to find a deal. There will be some overlap, but I'm only interested in L series glass and that's the one that best fits my budget and what I like to shoot. I may eventually acquire a cheaper telephoto lens too.
Coming from the 10D I purchased in 2003, this upgrade is long overdue. It's not a Mark III, but it's good enough for me.
