A broad area of low pressure will transition across the European Mainland on Friday, while a ridge of high pressure builds over northeast Europe.
A large area of low pressure will move slowly eastward across central Europe. This system will continue to produce widespread rain and embedded thunderstorms across western, central and southeast Europe. The heaviest rain will develop in eastern France, Switzerland, northern Italy, southern Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, northern Romania and Moldova. Munich, Germany, can expect intermittent showers throughout the day with a high of 58(F)/ 14(C). By the afternoon and evening, stormy conditions will spread northeastward across Poland, Ukraine, western Belarus, Lithuania and western Latvia. Warsaw, Poland, can expect late afternoon and evening showers with a high of 70(F)/ 21(C). A weak frontal system extending west southwestward will keep wet weather in the forecast for southern France and the Iberian Peninsula. Madrid, Spain, will have a chance of afternoon showers with a high of 63(F)/ 17(C). Porto, Portugal, is expected to receive between 5 to 10 millimeters of rain with a high of 60(F)/ 15(C).
Meanwhile, an Atlantic system will drift northeastward over northern Norway. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will initiate scattered showers and high elevation snow across Norway and Sweden. A ridge of high pressure will build over the northern Atlantic. This system will bring cool, gusty conditions to Ireland and the United Kingdom. Edinburgh, United Kingdom, will be partly cloudy with a high of 51(F)/ 10(C).
