An area of low pressure will slide across southern Europe on Thursday, while an Atlantic system affects parts of western Europe.
A low pressure system will push eastward from the western edge of the Mediterranean Sea to central Italy. This system will usher light to moderate rain and high elevation snow across parts of Portugal, Spain, southern France, Switzerland, southern Germany, Italy, Austria, Hungary and the northwestern corner of the Balkan Peninsula. Relatively warm air from the Mediterranean Sea will bring chances of thunderstorms to Italy and Croatia. Geneva, Switzerland, is expected to receive between 5 to 10 millimeters of rain with a high of 49(F)/ 9(C). Rome, Italy, will experience late afternoon and evening thunderstorms with a high of 62(F)/ 16(C). Light to moderate precipitation will also be possible over parts of Turkey and eastern Ukraine as a cold front moves across extreme eastern Europe. Istanbul, Turkey, will have a chance of early morning showers with a high of 51(F)/ 10(C).
Meanwhile, an Atlantic frontal system will produce light rain over Ireland. Limerick, Ireland, will have a chance of showers throughout the second half of Thursday with a high of 45(F)/ 7(C).
Additionally, a broad area of low pressure will stay centered over Scandinavia. This system will influence an onshore flow from the northern Atlantic, fueling light precipitation across Norway, central Sweden and southern Finland.
